Overcoming
Vicky Phelan with
Naomi Linehan
“If there’s any
message I want people to take from this book, it is that, even in the hardest
of times, life is worth living, one precious moment at a time.”
Vicky and over 220 women with cervical cancer were not
informed that a clinical audit by CervicalCheck had revised their earlier,
negative smear tests. These cancers could have been preventable. Vicky had
since been known as an Irish healthcare campaigner and the voice for these 220+
women. Unfortunately, Vicky died in November 2022 aged 48.
In this book Vicky shares her personal story from a life-threatening accident as a young adult to motherhood, her battle with depression, the discovery that her cancer had returned, and the events the led the charge for legal action which made history.
